Default Where to buy commodities?

Hey everyone,

I have an account at TD Waterhouse where I trade stocks,
but i don't think I have an option to short, buy commodities, short commodities, buy options

where can I signup, load up funds from another bank account, and be able to trade all those?

also, what kind of margins do they offer? is the margin higher for commodities?

Hi Bdjuf welcome to the board.

When you open up your account with td waterhouse on the application you fill out you need to check mark the Options and short selling fields for TD waterhouse to enable those options for you.

If you didn't do that, you should call the tdwaterhouse team and ask them to modify your account to enable those features.

You can trade commodities through etfs (Exchange traded funds) You can find a list of them at:
http://finance.yahoo.com/etf/browser/mkt

If you want to trade the actuall commodity futures, TD Waterhouse doesn't allow you to do that. You would need to open up an account with

http://www.interactivebrokers.ca

I hope this helps you out!

As for the margins, I think TD waterhouse will match your cash amount 90 - 100%

So if you deposit $10,000 they will give you $10,000 on margin to play with as well!

Good luck
